The APRS Settings Tab is where you would set your Analog APRS Parameters and Digital APRS Channels.

Analog APRS Settings

TX Freq
  • Set the frequency to transmit analog APRS on, Check the frequency to use in your county/region e.g 144.8MHz in the UK and in parts of Europe.
TX Power
  • LOW: Transmit APRS in low power, independent of the currently selected channels power setting.
  • HIGH: Transmit APRS in high power, independent of the currently selected channels power setting.
TX Tone
  • Set the CTCSS or DCS Tone to use when transmitting analog APRS.
TX Delay and Prewave Time
  • These two parameters regulate the delay before the transmission of information.
Your Callsign
  • Required: Enter your callsign here
Dest Callsign
  • Required: Recommended to use 'APAT81'
Your SSID and Dest SSID
  • Set the APRS type identifier (see below)
APRS Tone
  • OFF: Disable APRS Packet audio through the radio speaker. (recommended)
  • ON: Enable APRS Packet audio through the radio speaker.
APRS Icon Row and APRS Icon Column
  • Set the APRS symbol identifier (see below)
APRS Signal Path
  • Set the APRS Path for the APRS Packets, Note there is no character or space between the settings. (WIDE1-1WIDE2-1)
APRS Sending Text
  • Set the message text to send with your analog APRS packets.
Latitude and Longitude (These are in Decimal Degrees NOT Degrees Decimal Minutes or Degrees Minutes Seconds)
  • Set the Latitude and Longitude co-ordinate for use with Fixed Location Beacon
Beacon Location
  • Fixed Location: Always transmit the location set using the Latitude Longitude parameters above.
  • GPS Location: Always transmit the Real-Time GPS location. Note GPS must be enabled and have a GPS lock.
Manual TX Interval
  • Set the interval between manual APRS TX using the PTT.
  • Settings from 0 to 255 seconds.
Auto TX Interval
  • Set the interval between automatic APRS TX.
  • Settings from 0 seconds to 7650 seconds, in 30 second intervals.


Digital APRS Channels

Report Channel
  • Current Channel: Transmit APRS on the currently selected Digital Channel.
  • Otherwise select a channel from the list to use to transmit the APRS when using Digital APRS.
Report Talkgroup
  • Set the talkgroup number to send APRS packets to. e.g 234999 for Brandmeister Network in the UK.
Report Slot
  • Set the timeslot to send the APRS packets to. Typically Slot 2
Report Type
  • Private: Send APRS packets using a Private Call type, with the set talkgroup above.
  • Group: Send APRS packets using a Group Call type, with the set talkgroup above.
PTT
  • Off: Do not manually send APRS packets when pressing the PTT.
  • On: Send APRS packets when pressing the PTT, Set the interval using the Manual TX Interval above. Independent of the Auto TX Interval.


APRS SSID

  • -0: Your primary station usually fixed and message capable
  • -1: generic additional station, digi, mobile, wx, etc
  • -2: generic additional station, digi, mobile, wx, etc
  • -3: generic additional station, digi, mobile, wx, etc
  • -4: generic additional station, digi, mobile, wx, etc
  • -5: Other networks (Dstar, Iphones, Androids, Blackberry's etc)
  • -6: Special activity, Satellite ops, camping or 6 meters, etc
  • -7: walkie talkies, HT's or other human portable
  • -8: boats, sailboats, RV's or second main mobile
  • -9: Primary Mobile (usually message capable)
  • -10: internet, Igates, echolink, winlink, AVRS, APRN, etc
  • -11: balloons, aircraft, spacecraft, etc
  • -12: APRStt, DTMF, RFID, devices, one-way trackers*, etc
  • -13: Weather stations
  • -14: Truckers or generally full time drivers
  • -15: generic additional station, digi, mobile, wx, etc


APRS Symbol Picker

CPEditor has a built-in tool for selecting your APRS Symbol.

To access this, click on the icon square to the right of the text boxes, it may be blank if no text has been entered.

This will open a form where you can click on any icon to select it, this will automatically fill in the required symbols for your selected icon :)
