Hi !

Congratulations David for this project !

I put some coins into the Paypal donate machine for support you ;)

The issue I am facing at :

What I did at first :

1- Putting last firmware (I tried both 202106 from Retevis and 202107 from DD1GO) via Retevis IAP
2-Downloading Ham contacts from RadioId via CPS editor

By now :

I can't read neither write the radio the radio :

.Via CPS EDITOR :

-after reading the looong 199blocks : "Unknow mistake......"
- don't want to doownload any other example json file : "Mistake" after the 2/57 block reading....

.Via Retevis CPS (the last 180):

- don't want to read cause "Runtime error 6 Over flow"
.don't want to write any other f136 file : ""Data misake" after the 2/56 (and not 57 here) block reading.

I made a reset factory ...nope ...The beast is "unprogrammed" by now !

So I am totally sticked !!!

Any idea ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards to all

Eric

Hi Eric,

I have never come across this problem before, so unsure of what the cause is.

I have a tool to reset the radio back to a clean 'factory' state. I haven't tested it with the recent firmware updates however it should work. This basically clears all ham contacts and codeplug memory and then writes a clean codeplug to the radio. You can then upload your own codeplug which should hopefully clear any errors.
I originally made it because old versions of the cps would corrupt some memory locations which causes issues with the editor, so far it has worked well so it may help clear the errors you are having.

One thing you can try before using the reset tool is try to download the 'bin' from the radio.. in the editor, right-click the "Download from Radio" button and select the "Download Binary Codeplug" option.. If successful this will save as a .bin file.. This won't really be useful to you however if it downloads successfully, send me the .bin file in a private message here and I can look at it to find the errors.

I will send you a message containing the reset tool you can try to recover your radio.

-----
Radioddity are releasing a new firmware and cps soon with some fixes and better features. I would update to that when it is released. Retevis are a few versions behind with their cps and to be honest is still has too many bugs to use reliably.

With the new features they are adding I will have to update the editor to include them, so as soon as they release it I'll write it to my radio and begin testing the editor with it then release an update of the editor so that it works correctly :)

Cheers,
Dave :)

....Hi Dave and Bob,

So...something I wasn't aware of : it does exist a same shape Raddioddity radio ( DB25B) ...and we can use radioddity firmware and CPS files without "bricking" Retevis RT-73 as well ?

Amazing...!

....I've just seen the new "2021-09-13 CPS 3.3 - FW 2021-09-02 for DB25-D" files I suppose you was talking about, here : https://www.radioddity.com/pages/radioddity-download

But for now, as it looks like I'm not in a lucky period, I'll stay with retevis for a while....waiting for your positive feedbacks here and there :)

Yes, there should hopefully be another small update soon. Although they may leave it a few weeks.
I am going to update my radio with it and also update the editor to include the new hang time settings and any other changes.

Thanks again, it's much appreciated :)

Were you able to restore your radio using the reset tool?

LOL on how and what and when "they" update. TO ME it seems like not enough important stuff is being "fixed/improved" in each release. So yeah; there should be something more....just a matter of when....sigh.

Having said the above, I am a user of Brandmeister TGs and repeaters. Which is to say; MUCH more than everything combined. So, for me, the missing ability to QUICKLY (easily) change to ANY TG is something that should have been taken care right away. (But I am just a pesky customer....hi hi.)

I look forward to what you come up with in the Codeplug Editor !!

Hi Dave !

For info : it’s unbelievable !

Sure Cps editor is totally not in cause about my issue :

I’ve gotten a brand new second ft-73.

Things just done out of the box :

-upgrating firmware from avril to june with usb universal driver + Iap files from Alliunce —> ok and no connection problem or error
- …but 180 cps….doesn’t want to read the radio again, on the first try , sending me back the Runtime error !!!!!!
- same error on first reading via cps editor !
- the same on 2 differents computers !

I dropped a mail to Alliunce ( hum..)

Don’t care, i keep on searching on my side

Good week-end

Eric
