GD 88 Won't read from radio

Post by n3epy »

I am having an issue with not being able to read from the radio. I reset it to default. I am getting the error below attached.

I did go into device manager and set the Com port to defaults. That means 9600 baud.
Any ideas?

Looks like a similar issue I've had when reading from unknown firmware versions, where there are changes that break the way I read from the radio.. but could also be an issue with the serial cable / COM Port / Baud Rate.

Try this:
Right-Click the "Read From Radio" button, you should see an option to download the binary.

If this works, send me the .bin file it creates and I can have a look.

Also the baud should be 115200, although it shouldn't matter as I open the COM Port with the required settings but if that gets overridden with 9600 then the resulting data read at 115200 from a 9600 connection will not be read correctly, resulting in the corrupt data as shown.

Unfortunately I don't have a PC that is fast enough to run Visual Studio effectively since my main PC died at the end of last year and don't currently have the funds to replace it just yet.
Hence why there have been to updates or bug fixes for a while.
